Deborah and Ron of Dementia Journey in the USA visits Alzheimer’s Jamaica

The year 2017 began with us cranking up our public awareness activities across communities.

In January we were pleased to welcome from the United States of America to our shores Ron Zoglin and Deborah Shouse; Family Caregivers, Dementia Advocates, Writers, and Speakers.

Deborah is author of Connecting in the Land of Dementia: Creative Activities to Explore Together and Love in the Land of Dementia: Finding Hope in the Caregiver’s Journey

Ron & Deborah met with a group of women in Falmouth, Trelawny to share with them about their work as Dementia advocates. The women were inspired by the presentations made and what they enjoyed most was serenade Ron & Debroah with the “Ha Ha Chorus” they learned.

At the end of the meeting the group made the commitment to form an ongoing group to educate advocate and care for persons living with dementia across their communities. The group would carry the name DEBRON identifying with Deborah and Ron who inspired them.

On February 22 2017 Shirley Duncan and Zadha Tulloch shared with The Runaway Bay, St. Ann Senior Citizen’s Club about dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. The group is ready to work in their community as dementia care advocates.
